Sigma Alpha Zeta Multicultural Sorority Inc. was founded October 17, 1992 at California State University, Fresno by sisters who sought to empower other women through academic excellence, community service, and sisterhood. Sigma Alpha Zeta's Theta Chapter was recognized on the University of California, San Diego's campus on April 4, 2013.
Our founding mothers wanted to find an organization where each woman would be accepted for themselves and share their diverse interests. After meeting the sisters of Sigma Alpha Zeta, they wanted to recreate that same eternal sisterhood at UCSD. Since then, we have embraced our passion for the advocacy of human rights, as well as academics. We value philanthropy, community service, student commitment, and women empowerment. We are proud to be a multicultural based sorority that accepts all women, regardless of race, religion, sexual preferences, or handicap.
